Teachers

During these 11 days we will be able to learn from the hand of some of the most representative figures of the Bahian percussive panorama. Little by little we will announce the confirmed teachers for this edition.

Mestre Jackson
He is considered one of the most respected percussionists in Bahia. He was the precursor of Samba Reggae together with the late Neguinho do Samba in Olodum. He is responsible for the creation and evolution of the Afro-Baiano rhythm called axé music. He introduced the merengue rhythm to the drums, which gave Olodum his biggest hits to date.

Sandra Ribeiro

Sandra is a treasure. Black woman endowed with a special ability to play her instrument. Sandra is masterful, genuine, precious. Sandra Ribeiro dominates an infinity of instruments and rhythms, however, it is in the timbal and djembe that she gathers her most moving nuances.

Meire Brêu
Meire is a born percussionist. Meire Brêu as she is known artistically has rhythm in her veins and has been making history in the percussive groups of Bahia.

Viviam Caroline

Viviam Caroline

Known as the Diva of percussion, Viviam has all her life research dedicated to samba-reggae. She started playing at Didá at the age of sixteen and alongside Neguinho do Samba she built the band and social project Didá, from which she left in 2022.

Elbermário Barbosa
One of the current references of Bahian percussion, Elbermário is currently percussionist for Ivete Sangalo and experienced the entire evolution of the percussive movement in the Candeal neighborhood, where he was born.

Born and raised in Pelourinho, Ícaro is a talented percussionist who began his professional career at the age of 15 as a member of Ramiro Musotto's Orchestra Sudaka.

Mario Pam
Mario Pam
Director of the Aiyê Band, Mario Pam has experienced first-hand the history of the first Bloco Afro: Ilê Aiyê. He is the coordinator of the Tambores do Mundo Cultural Association and has a degree in music from the Catholic University of Salvador.

Director and teacher of the Erê Band (musical project for children and adolescents from Ilê Aiyê), Vinicius has been a musician for more than 25 years and it is a real pleasure for the ears to see him play the Timbau in the Aiyê Band.

Gilmário Marques

Natural de Salvador, iniciou sua carreira artística no Olodum no Projeto Rufar dos Tambores, da Escola Olodum em 1984. É Mestre e músico da Banda Olodum na qual faz parte atualmente.
